  • User Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and secure password data. If you submit a report as a guest, we may collect a guest name or operate entirely anonymously.
  • Report & Evidence Data: When reporting a scam, you provide data about the incident. This includes the scammer's phone number, payment details (e.g., bKash, Nagad), social media links, and uploaded evidence (screenshots, PDFs).
  • Business Verification Data: If you are verifying a business, we collect official documents such as Trade Licenses and NID cards.
  • Automated Data: We automatically collect standard web data such as IP addresses, browser types, and usage metrics to ensure platform security and prevent spam.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used strictly to fulfill the mission of Capscan:

  • To Publish Scam Alerts: Information submitted about scammers (their names, numbers, pages, and the provided evidence) is made publicly available to warn other users.
  • To Verify Businesses: We use submitted business documents internally to grant a "Verified" badge. We do not publish sensitive personal ID documents (like NIDs) to the public.
  • Platform Security: To detect and prevent fraudulent reporting, spam, and malicious activity.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Because our core service is a public database, it is important to understand the distinction between your private data and the public data you submit:

  • Publicly Shared: The details of the scam (scammer's contact info, business name, and evidence) will be published on our platform and accessible to the public and search engines.
  • Law Enforcement: We proactively cooperate with Bangladeshi legal authorities. We will share any requested data, including user IPs and raw evidence, to assist in formal fraud investigations.
  • Never Sold: We will never sell your personal account information (your email or private account details) to third-party marketers.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies to maintain your login session, remember your preferences, and analyze website traffic. You can choose to disable cookies through your browser settings, though this may limit your ability to use certain features of the platform, such as logging into your dashboard.

  • Scammer Data: Once a report is verified and published, the data regarding the scammer becomes part of our public interest database. Requests to remove scam reports by the accused parties will only be honored if they can explicitly prove the report is false through our formal dispute process.
